Aquatic Centre Planned for Pimpama

The Gold Coast City Council plans to spend over $43 million on a new aquatic and sports centre located on Rifle Range Road in Pimpama. The new centre will feature an Olympic pool, a gym, a 25m pool and smaller pools for those learning to swim.

Currently, the closest 50m swimming pool is 20 kilometres away in Runaway Bay. Division One Councillor Donna Gates explained that the centre will be situated on the Northern Gold Coast where there aren’t any 50m pools for community use. This will make it easier for schools on the Northern Gold Coast to organise swimming lessons, swimming carnivals and more.

Peter Catanzariti from Ray White Upper Coomera says that this will attract more people to the Northern Gold Coast, particularly to Pimpama which is great news for those thinking of selling. The construction of the aquatic and sports centre will also create jobs which is great news for locals.

With Pimpama’s population being expected to grow more than double the current population by 2021, it is another incentive for aquatic and sporting facilities to be available on the Northern Gold Coast for families and schools. The centre is expected to be fully complete two years after the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
